July 2009
Even photographers who make black-and-white images are concerned with color perception. Gelatin-silver prints, especially after toning, exhibit different and sometimes unexpected color casts under different lights. This image (from Color Illusion 4: A Group of Green and Blue Spirals represents an extreme example of how thoroughly our perception of color can be deceived. It looks like three spirals: Red(ish), green, and blue. But, in reality, what you think are green and blue spirals are really the same green-ish blue color (RGB: 0, 255, 150). Everything's contextual. |

Santa Cruz Open Studios 2009 Still not ready to return to Scanta Cruz Open Studios for 2009. I miss seeing all the visitors, but I'm still brewing and stewing, as it were. |
